Summary

The Credit Manager reports into the Credit Director and is responsible for managing a portion of the Credit team with strategic focus to ensure the standardization and continuous improvement of business processes while meeting service and productivity standards, customer and employee satisfaction. Manages staff performance and facilitates the development of management skills to ensure upward mobility.

Essential Functions

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships and work closely with all stakeholders; internal and external to support business growth strategies while ensuring effective underwriting processes and maintaining risk thresholds. Serve as primary escalation point and liaison with key stakeholders. Evaluate risk within current economic conditions and existing policy. Act as a positive agent of change as required to implement policy and process change.

  • Provide credit risk and underwriting expertise and sound commercial credit decisions within assigned delegated authority levels; and propose quality recommendations for approval by executive level management for exposures exceeding your authority with properly documented and well formulated rationale covering all aspects of the credit risk.

  • Perform management responsibilities for the assigned team, including interviewing/hiring, conducting performance appraisals and rewarding/disciplining employees, resolving complaints, coaching and counseling employees on performance, set performance standards, and other HR actions. Directly accountable for excellence in all aspects of Ryder Credit Underwriting, driving significant improvement in judgmental credit decisions, underwriting quality and standardization, and process efficiency (SLA/KPI) for assigned credit team.

  • Develops and ensures compliance with internal controls, quality standards, processes and procedures. Interacts with monitors external vendors ensuring compliance with service level agreements. Visits internal and external customers to provide support.

  • Oversees the development and maintenance of desk procedures, training manuals, and internal control documentation. May lead or participate in projects to include department, SSC, division and corporate initiatives.

  • Process Improvement Methods (Six Sigma, Lean, et al) - Green Belt or higher intermediate preferred

  • Workday ERP and AS400 ERP advanced preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Finance or Accounting; or 10 years related business work experience.

  • Master's degree preferred in Business Management, MBA, Finance, or Accounting

  • Other preferred Formal Bank Credit Training

  • Five (5) years or more Full management responsibilities of staff personnel (minimum of 5) in a business environment required

  • Seven (7) years or more Formal Commercial Credit decision authority required

  • Five (5) years or more Full accountability for a portfolio of credit analyst decisions preferred

  • One (1) year or more Management of remote staff preferred

  • Financial Statement Analysis and commercial underwriting advanced required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Access, PowerPoint and Excel advanced required

  • Salesforce.com advanced preferred

  • Process Improvement Methods (Six Sigma, Lean, et al) - Green Belt or higher intermediate preferred
