The Senior Director Customer Logistics will primarily be responsible for the financials, profit and loss responsibility and sales and account growth within a geographical area.
Build and maintain relationships with appropriate levels in the customer's organization, primarily with senior management and is the key decision maker/point of contact for the customer's Senior Managers. They represent Ryder in customer meetings and presentations to drive retention and growth. Support the sales process by participating in business development opportunities with new customers

Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, including acting as a catalyst for change. Support the Group Director in the strategic development and management of the assigned objectives
Ensure the effective selection, placement, development and retention of talent to meet current and future business needs. Train, supervise and coach/mentor direct reports and management team
Forecast, plan, manage and ensure locations meet defined financial targets. Develop and ensure mitigation plans are implemented as required
Monitor and hold operations accountable for maintaining a safety culture that meets or exceeds annual safety targets
Responsible for customer service, customer relationships, business retention and development, strategic initiatives including annual plan, company and customer initiatives
Position will be responsible for P&L management for all locations position oversees
Continuous Improvement in all segments of the business
Developing, mentoring team members and leadership of direct reports
The incumbent will maintain a positive employee related climate and maintain a customer satisfaction index at a World Class Level

Skills and Abilities
Provide leadership at all levels – developing the team/developing talent, continue to drive the Ryder culture throughout the operations
Ability to operate at all levels – ability to take a hands-on approach and understand the details of the operations while also being able to operate/interact at a strategic level
Executive presence and strong communication skills – able to take a tactful and strategic approach with customer (polished, charisma, engaging personality, knowing when to engage and what to say when, how to say no, etc.)
Analytical – exceptional ability to use and understand data to run the business along with natural intuitive business acumen
Innovation – ability to solve problems, identify opportunities, and willingness to try new things and make recommendations to customers
Strong commercial management and negotiation skills
Manage business through KPIs and scorecard metrics; lead compilation of monthly scorecard report-outs for LLP/TM team
Understand trends in industry and other verticals and serve as consultant to customers
Financial acumen – must understand costing/pricing, P&L, managing budgets, etc
Ability to work with cross-functional teams (i.e. engineering, sales, etc) – does not work in silos
Attracting and retaining talent in the market to build strong customer teams
Support sales process from bid to implementation of new business opportunities
Ensuring the people and processes are in place to support the customer service level expectations; anticipating future customer needs
Engaging in and leading annual Team strategic initiatives (Talent Development & Reviews, Strategic Communication, Innovation, KPIs, LDP)
Achieve KPIs, service metrics, P&L targets for the business
Bachelor's degree required in business, logistics, transportation management or related field
Master's degree preferred
Minimum of twelve (12) years experience in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management required
Prior experience making customer and senior level management presentations required
Demonstrated experience developing, growing, improving and implementing integrated logistics solutions required
Travel: 25% - 50%
