Ryder System Inventory Supervisor in Northlake, Texas

Position Description

Ryder has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced inventory supervisor to join our team in Northlake, TX.

The Inventory Supervisor is responsible to oversee the cycle count team and implement inventory procedures. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reporting all inventory KPI's; ensure accuracy, investigate and correct discrepancies; ensure all inventory related transactions are posted and reported according to guidelines and time allotted.

  • Customer Liaison/ Project Participation / Training

  • Cycle Counting and physical inventory

  • Ensures all inventory activities have processes in place to provide accurate inventory for the customer

  • Fully supports and contributes to quality management, process improvement and cost reduction initiatives as appropriate or as required.

The purpose of this position is to provide direct supervision of inventory control functions in a high volume environment. Ensure compliance with company, department policies, and procedures. Execute work instruction in order to provide a safe and productive work environment. Focus on detail to ensure accurate inventory levels (through programs such as frequent cycle counts) and completing inventory management functions, this position may be asked to:

-Resolve discrepancies and high-value variances through established investigative processes.

-Organize data and provide results for management review to establish an action plan.

-Identify and/or solve operational issues within the work group to provide productive and quality results.

  • Utilize personal initiative and other support groups in and outside the organization.

Strong candidates will have experience in inventory management and utilizing the RF guns and WMS system.

This position will primarily be a first shift position. However, candidates must be willing to work flexible hours based on the demands of the business or customer needs.


  • H.S. diploma/GED

  • One (1) year or more experience in logistics, warehouse or industry related field required

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms with employees, peers, and management

  • Strong organizational, follow-up, and computer skills required

  • Ability to work self directed with minimal supervision

  • Ability to manage individual performance and employee relations

  • Ability to use sound judgement when information is incomplete or ambiguous

  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (Intermediate level, Preferred )

  • Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) depending on position (Intermediate level)

  • Knowledge of OSHA required; DOT and Hazmat knowledge based on the account (Intermediate level)


  • Lead shift start up meeting to communicate daily/shift goal of facility and work group(s). Devise, communicate, and implement plans to obtain operational goals. Work with and motivate employees to ensure goal achievement. Provide progress or constraint updates to management

  • Hire, train and supervise leads and hourly employees in the assigned work group(s)

  • Provide leadership for employees through in depth training and continuous review of employee understanding of policies, procedures, and processes. Create a productive work environment through effective communication, coaching, motivating, and leading by example

  • Support and aid in the development of system and process training for employees in the work group(s). Perform administrative functions to include tracking of time, attendance, and performance feedback

  • Instruct and enforce location safety management plans, training, and processes

  • Identify and/or solve operational issues with the account(s) by implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, to strengthen team unity, goals, productivity, and results

  • Assign employees to individual tasks and ensure required tools are available

  • Performs other duties as assigned
