Ryder System Portfolio Operations Director - AAI in NASHVILLE, Tennessee

Position Description

The objective behind establishing the Portfolio Operations Director structure is to streamline the Sales process and ultimately improve sales performance. This Portfolio Operations Director will support Ryder's Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial business vertical within Supply Chain Solutions. The new structure is designed to achieve the following outcomes:(i) consistent decision making in designing solutions, (ii) leveraging broad knowledge across multiple groups and designs, (iii) accelerating speed to market and decision making, and (iv) bring sharper focus on key functional activities (Operations and Sales).

Role and responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the single point of contact to partner withtheSales and VP to win business.

  2. Directly responsible and principle decision maker for Operations on Pursuit Activities, including but not limited to the design, service model and operational feasibility of the solution. Local operator’s approval will no longer be required on deal inputs and design.

  3. Specifically responsible for, amongst others, the following activities:

  4. Developing strong partnerships with Sales, Pricing, Asset Management, Solutions, Legal Engineering and Group Director of Strategic Initiatives to provide consistency and improve the overall sales process. (Competitive analysis, bid analysis win/loss)

  5. Work with the VP of Sales on Sales pursuits and develop coordinated sales/operational action plans to achieve Plan targets.

  6. Monitoring Sales opportunities with the Sales team in relation to the annual Sales Plans and develop coordinated action plans to achieved Plan targets.

  7. Reviewing and approving all draft contract documents before submission by Sales to the customer

  8. Reviewing and approving all engineering, wages, and miscellaneous cost categories in support of Sales pursuits.

  9. Acting as the Operations approver on all CACs for contracts acting within the scope of Pursuit Activities

  10. Developing portfolio retention plans in conjunction with VP and Operations management.

  11. Providing a clean hand off of contractual compliance obligations to the Operations team after contract signing. Note - Operations are still responsible for Start-up and CDD activities in the Region.

Travel, at times, could be as high as 50%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related field OR ten (10) years of related experience

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of logistics/supply chain experience in a multi-location environment with profit & loss responsibilities

  • Experience in supporting sales growth, account expansion, pricing, contracting, engineering and creating solutions

  • Experience in making senior level management presentations

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers and supervisors)

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Flexibility to operate and excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Capable of multi-tasking and highly organized, with excellent time management skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices

  • Demonstrated knowledge of integrated supply chain management at a strategic level

Responsibilities

  • Work with the VP of Sales on sales pursuits and develop coordinated ales/operational action plans to achieve plan targets

  • Develop portfolio retention plans in conjunction with region VP and Operations management

  • Review and approve all draft contract documents before submission by Sales to the customer;Review and approve all engineering, wages, and miscellaneous cost categories in support of sales pursuits

  • Act as the Operations approver on all Contract Approval Checklists (CACs) for contracts acting within the scope of pursuit activities

  • Successfully transition customer contractual compliance obligations to the Operations team after contract signing

  • Develop strong relationships with FMS region management and Sales to continue to promote Ryder Dedicated service offerings to FMS customers and accelerate the conversion rate

  • Develop strong partnerships with Sales, Pricing, Asset Management, Solutions, Legal, Engineering and Group Director of Strategic Initiatives to provide consistency and improve the overall sales process

  • Other duties as assigned
