Ryder System Customer Logistics Supervisor - Packaging in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Position Description

Supervise the daily and weekly activities that occur within assigned area of the operation; provide leadership, motivation, training, and development of workforce; execute against customer requirements; participate in continuous improvement activities as part of the site management team; ensure company policies are followed and develop a positive work culture.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and manage the daily workload. Adjust staffing to ensure orders are completed to meet order due dates.

  • Manage WIP to ensure appropriate work levels are available to begin the next shift

  • Effectively develop, communicate and train associates on SOP’s

  • Convey key information during pre-shift meetings

  • Promote a friendly environment, good morale and cooperation among team members

Non-Essential, but preferred skill sets.

  • Experience with Military Packaging and Labeling (MIL-STD-129, MIL-STD-130 and MIL-STD-2073).

  • Packaging of large vehicle parts in crates, gaylords and on pallets.

  • Familiarity with NELMA requirements.

  • Experience with hazmat packaging.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required

  • Experience with DOT, OSHA, and all related safety regulations required

  • Minimum of 6 (six) months supervisory experience required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-3 Years of experience in a transportation, warehouse or distribution environment preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Preferred

  • Knowledge/Experience in transportation environment, (i.e. Shipping, receiving and inventory management, distribution or dispatch) preferred

  • Knowledge of warehouse and or software applications, routing and dispatch software systems preferred
