Ryder System Technical Writer in MIAMI, Florida

Position Description

The Technical Writer position is responsible for the implementation and administration of FMS-wide document management systems and related procedures allowing for the capture, storage, retrieval, sharing, and archiving of electronic records and documents. The incumbent will manage the research, analysis, development and communication of policies supporting technical, operational and administrative procedures (new or revised).



  • Bachelor's degree Journalism, Communications or related field of study

  • Five (5) years or more experience in Communications, Journalism or Media Relations in a corporate or agency environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to:

  • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)

  • Lead/manage others

  • Work independently and as a member of a team

  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills

  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish (advanced level) preferred

  • General background in desktop publishing technologies, personal computers and project management software (intermediate level) preferred

  • MS Office knowledge (intermediate level) preferred


  • Researches existing data through file review. Analyzes all available data and information for accuracy, relevancy, completeness, consistency with company policies and approved practices. Develops draft(s). Collaborates with stakeholders to produce final products that meet the highest professional standards

  • Ensures electronic data including documents, policies, procedures, forms and other technical resources are accurate and accessible. Utilizes continuous improvement methodology in analyzing and recommending enhancements for documentation creation, storage, access and retrieval

  • Prioritizes and implements the creation, revision, uploading and communication of electronic documents such as QR guides, technical service bulletins, standard repair practices, reports, forms and manuals

  • Establishes processes for monitoring and updating critical databases such as ASE, Federal Brake, and Shop Tool Updates

  • Converts electronic documents for transition from Sitecore to RyderPolicy

  • Perform other duties as assigned
