Ryder System Tax Manager in MIAMI, Florida

Position Description

The Tax Manager will be responsible for the development, execution, ongoing evolution and continuity of streamlined income tax processes for ASC 740 (accounting for income tax) and tax compliance purposes. This position will coordinate and communicate with the accounting team, IT department, and tax department personnel to fully understand systems, tax software, business and tax processes and identify areas for process improvements within the tax department. This position will report to the Senior Director of Corporate Tax.



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, MIS, Tax Technology, or Computer Science

  • Five (5) years or more relevant experience in large multinational corporate tax environment and/or top tier accounting

  • General Corporate Income Tax experience

  • Experience with OneSource Tax Compliance, One Source Tax Provision, or other comparable software packages (preferred)

  • Ability to:

  • Interact effectively with management and functional peer groups

  • Manage and lead tax projects

  • Perform critical analysis, prioritize and problem solve

  • Train others

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present issues and recommendations in a precise manner

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with tax systems and Excel (advanced level)

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred


  • Identify areas where manual, duplicative, or no-value added processes are performed; and design tools that will result in time and cost savings opportunities

  • Create efficient models and reports in Excel, Workday (ERP), and other available mediums that will facilitate tax computations while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and tax regulations

  • Provide tax department training on newly developed processes, reports, and worksheets

  • Support tax compliance, provision, and international tax members with IT-related support needs; provide communication bridge between IT and Tax department

  • Participate in Workday ERP implementation and OneSource integration projects, and other projects, as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned
