Ryder System Staff Accountant- Sales Commissions in MIAMI, Florida

Position Description

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of sales commissions for the Inside Sales organization. This includes calculating complex commission payments, recording journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, working with the IT department on commission system updates and providing support as needed to the Inside Sales organization. The person selected for this position will also be responsible for the commission’s collections process of the Inside Sales, National Sales and Local Sales organizations. This includes tracking commission reversals for active and terminated employees, sending collection letters with supporting documentation and processing payroll deductions as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience with process improvement initiatives and process documentation. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are required. Experience in administering commissions and providing financial support to the sales organization is preferred, but not required. Must be advanced in excel and technologically innovative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field

  • Minimum of 3 (three)years experience in accounting related field

  • Intermediate level skills with MS Windows such working with windows and its components, desktop, taskbar, start menu, minimize/maximize/close function, drag/drop, copy/paste, rename, delete, recycle bin, and my computer

  • Expert level skills in Microsoft Excel such as working with formulas, data tables, pivotCharts, queries, custom functions, data management, programming, macros and analysis

  • Experience with basic accounting practices and procedures required

  • Accurate and efficient 10-key ability required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ideal candidate must be able to meet deadlines and interact will all levels of management

  • Self-motivated team player with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle special projects

  • Strong communication skills to speak with internal and external customers

  • Must be able to work with cross functional teams

  • Strong customer service skills and problem solving ability

  • Proven follow up skills and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of FOCUS is preferred

  • This position requires a high level of detail, accuracy, someone who is well organized

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication required

  • Candidate must be proficient with computers to include MS Office and Outlook or other e-mail application

Responsibilities

  • Other duties include but are not limited to: Manage books and records of transactions, provide accounting guidance, generate monthly reports, and continuously interact with assigned departments and department heads

  • Generate and distribute FMS management reports and other month end reports

  • Journal Voucher preparation for FMS management reporting. Intercompany eliminations
