Ryder System Intern – Payroll/Accounting in MIAMI, Florida

Position Description

The Ryder Internship program will allow students to apply their knowledge to current Ryder projects. Interns will develop a corporate business sense by learning how each department contributes to the overall organization as well as crucial problem-solving, analysis and public speaking skills while attending business meetings and participating in projects.

The Payroll/Accounting Intern will be supporting payroll validation activity as part of the Workday platform integration project. The duration of this internship is between four and five months and is temporary in nature.


  • Bachelor's degree - Must have completed at least four (4) semesters of college or university curriculum and be currently enrolled toward a degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Preference for experience showing leadership capabilities

  • Ability to:

  • Analyze data from spreadsheets, calculate formulas, create pivot tables, use VLOOKUP, and run macros

  • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors). Personal initiative, ability to present and effectively interact with all levels of management and customers

  • Display confidence in learning new systems and processes quickly and establishing a strong customer rapport

  • Demonstrates analytical skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills to support multiple projects

  • Strong financial, analytical, technical and organizational skills required to support multiple projects

  • Strong PC skills (Windows, MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel) (intermediate level)


  • Responsibilities will vary according to the area/department assigned

  • Analyzing data reported in current Excel documents, understanding the objective of Excel documents, translating information from Excel documents to Hyperion

  • Analyzes and interprets the business requirements of each report request

  • Produces accurate technical documentation of all reports and other projects

  • Functions as an effective member of the team, assisting co-workers as needed and learning from colleagues and supervisors

  • Perform other duties as assigned
