Ryder System Field Operations Consultant in MIAMI, Florida

Position Description

This position supports the development of business Improvement processes through the development, documentation, and testing of business process changes and system enhancements stemming from the Engineering and Continuous Improvement efforts for FMS organization.



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required

  • 5+ years experience in Ryder Field

  • Maintenance Operations, or comparable industry experience


  • Excellent technical knowledge of specs, applications and Maintenance Operations plans, policies and procedures

  • Excellent systems utilization skills with detailed understanding of SMO, and ability to test changes in technology

  • Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or comparable principles preferred

  • Receptivity to change Change Agent

  • Strong leadership and delegation skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong organization, priority, and planning kills

  • Ability to work cross functionally in order to achieve desired results

  • Specifically this position Participate in the process of identifying operational improvement opportunities

  • Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) between Field Maintenance Operations, Technical Assistance Center, Continuous Improvement, and IT departments, for the purpose of determining changes needed in business process

  • Interact with IT to develop new system strategies and work flows in SMO, and other Ryder systems

  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for all proposed changes to technology developed through the Continuous Improvement process

  • Support the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and metrics to improve accountability to Customers

  • Review and report on performance against operational objectives, and support success factors

  • Provide Field Maintenance and Operational input, guidance, and technical knowledge on proposed process changes, and Continuous Improvement initiatives

  • Design and implement changes to support division and corporate objectives pertaining to operations

  • Support the development of new maintenance processes and technology applications designed to improve the performance of maintenance operations across the network

  • Support the Field Maintenance Operations, and Quality Assurance organizations in identifying, and improving performance against maintenance standards. Participate on Kaizen and Six Sigma teams as required for cross-functional representation. Identify best practices, and opportunities for improvement to adopt changes in business process or systems that improve cost, quality, and productivity at all levels

  • Support field requests, and ideas for system enhancements

  • Responsible for gathering and refining field requests for system change ideas, and enhancements by developing a project plan to best meet the field operations objectives, and priorities
