Position Description

The Purchasing Manager - Ryder Fleet Products leads all purchasing activities and establishes strategic purchasing processes and procedures. The Purchasing Manager maintains relationships with more than 250 vendors or suppliers, actively sources new suppliers or products to increase customer value and sales and analyzes purchasing and price trends to minimize acquisition costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related field

  • Seven (7) years or more Purchasing Management

  • Seven (7) years or more Supplier Contracting

  • Five (5) years or more experience with e-sourcing tools preferred

  • Five (5) years or more experience Forecasting MM/MRP preferred

  • Advanced negotiation skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong contract negotiator

  • Develops win/win relationships with vendors/suppliers

  • Proven leadership skills

  • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of an organization

  • Work independently or as a member of a team

  • Manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments

  • Strong technical skills related to new procurement software and tools preferred

  • Excel skills such as working with formulas, pivot tables, vlookup, queries, custom functions, data management and analysis (advanced level)

  • Strong industry knowledge of automotive or heavy duty vehicle parts – OE or aftermarket (advanced level) preferred

  • Working knowledge of ERP Procurement Function - Oracle, SAP or WMS (intermediate level) preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook (intermediate level) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform competitive bids and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, delivery speed & fill rates -negotiate contracts terms

  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with vendors/suppliers through periodic meetings or business reviews

  • Evaluate and monitor contracts to be sure vendors/suppliers comply with the terms and conditions of the contract – address unacceptable performance through meetings or bids

  • Establish KPI’s tracking costs & service levels compared to agreement commitments – address unacceptable performance through meetings or bids

  • Monitoring and updating daily purchase orders

  • Analyze market pricing conditions, tariff impacts, raw material surcharges and other information to determine reasonable product market prices

  • Maintaining and updating list of suppliers and their product offerings, delivery times, and potential future development/expansion

  • Attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences to learn about new industry trends and make contacts with suppliers

  • Perform other duties as assigned
