Summary
The Technician III must be capable of performing the majority of required maintenance and service on Ryder vehicles with minimal support from others. Works with the assistance of a T4, TIC, SS or SM when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic type repairs. Task assignments are directed by shop management to encourage skill development in a productive manner. The Technician III works under general supervision of the designated Shop Supervisor or Service Manager. Exercises some judgment and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs.

PERFORMS VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR DUTIES INCLUDING:Performs standard vehicle maintenancePerforms preventive maintenanceDiagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicableCompletes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervisionReplaces defective components as instructedWorks unsupervised on most tasks
Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
ACTS AS MENTOR FOR TECH 1 AND TECH 2 LEVELSDemonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documentsPerforms facility maintenance duties
Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a taskWorks in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)

BRAKES-AIR: Brake Air trained and qualified within 90 days (BA220 & BA298)Measure lining thicknessAdjust BrakesPerform air brake sections of P.M.Perform brake overhaulMeasure drums, rotors, cam bushingsReplace S cams and bushings, slack adjusters and shimsReplace foot and relay valves, air dryers, air tanks, air lines, and other similar componentsMust meet federal qualifications of brake mechanic and inspectors (FMCS 396-25)

Qualifications
H.S. diploma/GED required General H.S. subjects
Vocational or Technical Certification preferred Must have minimum tool requirement
Two (2) years or more Experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment required
Non Commercial Driver License CLASS E
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A
State license as required
SBTIII trained (SBT220)
Complete 2 of the OEM On-line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mi. (predominant OEM of fleet mix)
