Summary

The Recruitment & Retention Specialist acts as an ambassador to Ryder employees and prospective employees, providing information and support services at all stages of the employee life cycle: recruitment, onboarding, orientation, career planning, and transition. The Employee Recruitment & Retention Specialist works with local management in developing strategies to recruit and retain a strong work force, and promotes Ryder as an employer of choice in the community. This position is responsible for the recruitment effort for all warehouse openings and works alongside the management team to improve employee retention.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with HR Leadership, Talent Management and Marketing in the development of internal and external communication strategy to ensure an effective team member value proposition.

  • Assist HR Business Partners regarding underlying issues affecting significantly engagement or retention within Ryde, and support the development/implementation of corrective actions.

  • Research and remain current on current trends and practices in driving recruitment and retention.

  • Analyzes compensation, benefits, and local wage surveys to evaluate the employment market demands on a continuous basisCollaborate with managers and leaders across the organization to ensure Ryder is an employer of choice and assist in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to retain diverse talent.

  • Train, coach and mentor regularly new hires to drive the team to success.

  • Assist with employee career pathing and support management with developing, conducting, tracking and/or evaluating training or professional development opportunities as requested.

  • Collaborate with HR Partner and Talent Management to create a conduct “stay” interviews based on collection of long and short-term retention data and employee feedback.

  • Provide guidance and expertise to managers on their roles regarding employee engagement and retention; assist with the development and implementation of employee engagement activities.

  • Support and facilitate employee networks, tasks forces and/or committees as a means of employee feedback and involvement to support retention goals.

  • Collaborate with HR Leadership, Talent Management and Marketing in the development of internal and external communication strategy to ensure an effective team member value proposition.

  • Assist HR Business Partners regarding underlying issues affecting significantly engagement or retention within Ryder, and support the development/implementation of corrective actions.

  • Lead recruiting efforts to meet the various staffing goals across Ryder.

  • Identify and predict future staffing needs; works closely with executive management to create and implement company specific staffing and retention strategies.

  • Attracts and sources suitable candidates internally and through networking opportunities: social media, websites, job boards, radio ads, and represents Ryder at Recruitment events.

  • Research and develop opportunities to recruit, retain, and promote a culturally diverse workforce. Coordinate all hiring steps throughout the recruitment process from start to end, including onboarding and screening.

  • Serve as primary contact with contracted temporary employee services.

  • Oversee the activities in preparation and distribution of weekly and monthly recruitment reports: job vacancy report, time to fill metric, etc.).

  • Research and remain current on current trends and practices in driving recruitment and retention.

  • Analyzes compensation, benefits, and local wage surveys to evaluate the employment market demands on a continuous basis

  • Gather and analyze qualitative retention data such as employee surveys, exit interviews, stay interviews; identify and implement improvement opportunities through working closely with department’s management.

  • Collect, analyze and distribute turnover reports to leadership.

  • Develop appropriate tracking tools to measure recruitment efforts.

  • Track and report statistics and other employment-related data on applicants, prospects and employees to management and outside agencies as directed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Functional Leadership with maintenance and developing of job descriptions as needed.

Skills and Abilities

  • Project management skills

  • Project management experience, preferably with programs designed to promote employee engagement, internal communications and adult learning

  • Ability to keep accurate and up-to-date records and logs Record, itemize, collate, and tabulate data

  • Full life-cycle recruitment utilizing an applicant tracking system (ATS); preferably iCims(preferred)

  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities

  • Proven ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects

  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)Agile team player with ability to collaborate with and build relationships across departments

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Develops and delivers effective presentations

  • Highly effective oral, written, presentation and influencing skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook) intermediate required

  • Knowledge of HR strategies and employment laws and regulations intermediate required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required Business degree required, Human Resources concentration is preferred

  • Three (3) years or more Recruitment and Retention required

  • Three (3) years or more Demonstrated experience in employee engagement and/or recruitment programs required

  • One (1) year or more experience with ATS/HRIS and social media platforms required

  • One (1) year or more experience designing content for presentations, videos and communication materials to capture the attention of diverse audiences preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook) intermediate required

  • Knowledge of HR strategies and employment laws and regulations intermediate required
