Summary

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the management of one or more projects. Must have a thorough understanding of project management methodologies and execute the same in strict accordance with the standards defined by the Ryder Transformation Office (TO). This position will interact with business, IT partners and cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are achieved on time and within budget. TO Project Managers are expected to report progress to all stakeholders, identify early warning signs and effectively communicate status and trend of their projects. A TO Project Manager will provide guidance to other PMs and Product Owners (POs) reporting through the TO on adherence of the TO SDLC and assure all elements required by the TO for Executive reporting are included in their project status update to management. As part of the TO, PM may be asked to host TO Meetings, record and track any action items as a result of these meetings. Travel may be required on some projects.

Essential Functions

  • Manage project plan, track dependencies, address constraints, resolve resource conflicts, assess impacts to plan, obtain estimates to complete forecast use of funds, ensure adherence to SDLC, report progress against plan.

  • Develop and execute project communications plan, facilitate team meetings, participate in key meetings that directly or indirectly impact the project, keep project stakeholders informed, prepare for and conduct TO Meetings if needed.

  • Gather content from respective project team members to complete interim and final deliverables. Present deliverables required at respective tollgates throughout the project live cycle. Obtain sign-off and approvals to proceed for stakeholders. Maintain project team repository of deliverables, reference materials and documentation.

  • Prepare status reports, track open issues, update risks (probability, severity and impact) and mitigation plans. Project Managers will work with other PMs or PO’s to identify potential dependencies or constraints.

  • Manage project budget, track actuals vs. plan, provide monthly forecasts, and report monthly accruals.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report to stakeholders on the status of concurrent project efforts.

  • Serve as Product Owner, as needed, when working with IT on application development projects.

  • Partner with IT and other business areas to develop an overall Implementation plan to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts.

  • Partner with IT when needed to evaluate application software packages and make recommendations to management.

  • Support Product Owners in activities scheduling for Pilots as needed.

  • Collect and analyze business requirements for large, multi-functional projects.

  • Foster and maintain good relationships with stakeholders to meet expected project outcome

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong project management skills with experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from vision to implementation involving internal personnel, contractors and vendors

  • Must possess excellent human resource management skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills

  • Ability to work on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks

  • Must have the ability to manage support teams in a matrix environment, be pro-active with a continuous improvement mind set, motivate and generate results through influence

  • Strong oral, interpersonal and written communications skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms

  • Must be capable of providing cross-functional teams briefing as needed

  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, responsible, reliable pro-active self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with excellent time management skills

  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required

  • At least 5 years in a project management or supervisory/management role required

  • Experienced in managing business and IT projects

  • PMI preferred
