Ryder System Used Vehicle Sales Trade In Specialist in DALLAS, Texas

Position Description

The Used Vehicle Sales Trade In Specialist will work with a used truck prospect to establish a fair market "Trade In" value for his/her owned truck, tractor or trailer as an alternative disposal option of their asset when purchasing a Ryder used vehicle from one of our Used Truck Centers. The position is designed to increase used truck sales by adding another value added service to the market with the intent of improving market share and increasing proceeds on Ryder owned and maintained vehicles at the time of sale.



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, or related sales operations and industry experience

  • Five (5) years or more meaningful experience & knowledge in Transportation or Lease Sales Operations

  • Five (5) years or more experience in remarketing in the Transportation industry preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • MS Excel ability to work with formulas and data

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills

  • Knowledge of market values of and trends of Class 3-8 equipment, trailers and other vehicles identified as specialty equipment; pricing models and industry tools (Kelly Blue Book, Blackbook, NADA, etc.) (intermediate level)

  • Knowledge of basic negotiations and sales process techniques (intermediate level)

  • Knowledge of competitive analysis, strategizing and execution (intermediate level)

  • Knowledge of sales process techniques, produce sales and services (intermediate level)

  • Knowledge and experience with Excel and all other MS Programs (intermediate level)


  • Identify the complete specifications required for a vehicle health inspection as well as a physical damage inspection of each potential “Trade In.”

  • Coordinate submissions and schedule third party inspections within 48 hours of a pending transaction. Based on inspection results and evaluation of market trends, assign a fair market “Trade In” value and execute the purchase of the “Trade In.”

  • Ensure the physical transfer of “Trade” equipment has been made to a Ryder Used Vehicles Sales Center for disposal. Confirm title transfer has occurred prior to the transaction being completed. Develop a program to monitor the sales disposing of the equipment within 30 days of purchase

  • Work with UVS Remarketing Manager to develop a process and guidelines for the program. Work with UVS pricing team as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned
