Summary

The Finance Specialist is responsible for preparing and processing financial documents and reports, tracking, entering data, and reconciling errors.

Essential Functions

  • Process transactions using financial systems, journals, queries as well as reporting tools and analytical methods to monitor and reconcile transactions.

  • Provide timely, relevant and accurate financial and accounting reporting.

  • Assist in the production and preparation of financial statements, spreadsheets, reports and correspondence.

  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies between account transactions and account balances.

  • Review and prepare regular deferred revenue, accounts receivable and other balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Review accounts payable sub-ledger entries and accruals information.

  • Create invoice statements for customers and vendors

  • Check figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes

  • Debit, credit and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software

  • Assume responsibility for effectively researching, tracking and resolving (or properly referring) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies

  • Perform essential duties of the month-end close process accurately and in a timely matter

  • Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or correct transactions

  • Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance

  • Perform general office duties such as filing and routine correspondence

  • Enter all relevant data into accounting software

  • Additional Skills & Abilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; or

  • Associate's degree with 1-3 years or more experience in a maintenance operations environment and/or 1-3 years or more experience in accounting and finance or equivalent experience
