Ryder System Helper in Asheville, North Carolina
The Helper travels with the drivers to assist with the transfer of product, both physically and logically, into and/or out of the warehouses. The Helper loads and unloads trucks, and moves product throughout the facility manually, while providing excellent customer service.
Ability to work every 4th Saturday is a requirement.
High school diploma, general equivalency degree (GED) or equivalent preferred
One (1) year or more of experience with inside delivery
Basic installation skills
Read, do basic mathematics, understand and respond to written and verbal instructions for the purposes of safety, work instructions, policies, etc.
Lift up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted and walk in high traffic areas
Work overtime as assigned
Safety Sensitive Position
Read, interpret, and apply bills of lading and assembly instructions
Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions adversely affect the customer
Recognize damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action when discovered
Stage orders according to location and verify: number of pallets picked and stage location
Prepare receiving, storage and shipping documentation retaining product accountability throughout the logistical process
Be aware of, and follow, location and work center safety and security policies and procedures
Perform housekeeping duties and other duties as assigned
May operate stair-climbing equipment, pallet jack, or lift gate
Load/unload freight or assist in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
Light assembly of technical equipment
Perform other duties as assigned
