Ryder System Refrigeration Maintenance Tech in Allegan, Michigan
THIS POSITION IS BASED IN KALAMAZOO, MI
Maintain day to day operations and assume the responsibility for maintaining the physical assets of the property under the direction of the Maintenance Manager/Operations Manager.
Responsible for completing monthly equipment p.m.’s and minor repairs.
Maintain equipment in safe working condition.
Strong MHE repair background. Experience with maintaining forklift equipment preferred.
Prior experience with ammonia refrigeration systems.
Strong background in maintaining and repairs of conveyer and assemblysystems.
Basic background in electrical repairs.
Participate in the continual development and improvement of maintenance policies, procedures and standard operating procedures for the facility.
Assist in the development and achievement of annual cost reductions and capital programs.
Maintain and insure spare parts inventories and/or consignment inventories are being maintained consistent with procedures.
Insure a clean and organized maintenance area.
Prioritize and schedule all maintenance work with a minimum amount of overtime.
Ensure PM entries into software are complete and accurate.
Certified in First Aid and CPR.
Actively supports and participates in LEAN
Utilizes the computerized maintenance management systems to their fullest potential as a tool to keep the department organized and as a communication tool to the plant and corporate management.
Establishes work schedules that meet the demands of operating and PM programs.
Capable of operating forklifts and their attachments
Able to read and understand schematic diagrams
Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds
Have good math skills
Be able to read and write English
Capable of using a wide variety of hand tools.
Capable of using various electric/mechanical testing devices
Available to work various shifts
Have no fear of heights
Work in a cold atmosphere
Understand and assist with the facility PSM program
Work effectively with a group and on own
Assist with the ERP team for the facility
Basic understanding of electricity
Able to wear a SCBA and pass fit test

High school diploma or equivalent
Strong background in maintenance repair and preventative maintenance programs
Good organizational, communication, and planning skills
Basic computer and parts inventory system skills
Aptitude to investigate and problem-solve various mechanical issues
Complete all routine lubrications, repairs and trouble shooting tasks of mechanical warehouse equipment
Assist and monitor all work being performed by outside contractors
Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations
Schedule and complete preventative maintenance procedures
Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, state and federal guidelines
Monitor and maintain grounds and building systems
Depending on location, employee may be required to operate equipment and may be required to be equipment certified
Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined
