Ryder System Senior Compliance Specialist in MIAMI, Florida

Position Description

The Sr. Compliance Specialist is part of Ryder's Compliance & Ethics Department. The position interacts with employees of all levels within the organization within all departments, including Law, Human Resources, Audit, IT, Safety and other groups. The position is responsible for significant consulting and collaborating with Human Resources and various business areas on all company policies and procedural matters. The key to this position is a strong business partner who can build alliances through gaining respect among Management to ensure that the Company complies with all laws and policies that govern it, especially as it relates to the Principles of Business Conduct.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree with course work in business

  • Five (5) years or more experience in related work

  • Two (2) years or more especific experience in compliance

  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, use sound judgement, be detail oriented, manage time and priorities effectively, be highly organized

  • Very strong analytical, communication and writing skills required

  • Must be comfortable communicating with managers and executives

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, pressure-filled environment, and must be as comfortable working independently as with a team

  • Very strong and proven command of technical writing and proofreading skills, including in-depth knowledge of grammatical rules and information mapping techniques

  • Extremely strong organizational and trend analysis skills

  • Legal, human resources, project management, or audit experience preferred (intermediate level) preferred

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel, and Access (advanced level)

  • Proficiency in MS Project preferred (advanced level) preferred

  • MicroStrategy (intermediate level) preferred

  • Case Management System (intermediate level) preferred


  • Responsible for the daily administration and support of Ryder’s whistleblower helpline and case management system

  • Provides support and guidance to users during internal investigations logged in the case management system. Works with the Manager of Corporate Compliance to develop and implement an internal investigation protocol. Prepares periodic trending analysis on Ryder’s Helpline statistics for Senior Management and Board of Director

  • Design and deliver company-wide training on compliance and ethics to enhance investigator awareness. Design and execute various other compliance and ethics awareness initiatives

  • Assist with the development of Compliance & Ethics policies and procedures

  • Assist with the administration of the company-wide policy management system

  • Responsible for due diligence conducted by the the Compliance & Ethics department on foreign agents, vendors and “deemed exports” consistent with the various regulations, including the FCPA

  • Conduct company-wide compliance audits, analyze results, prepare reports, and provide recommendations to appropriate departments

  • Design and establish internal benchmarking tools to identify trends and program effectiveness

  • Performs other duties as assigned
