Ryder System Continuous Improvement Engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana
Develop a thorough, effective and timely site improvement plan to address the top business needs at Ryder sites through the use of a strategic Transformation Plan.
Lead Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping events, continuous improvement projects and other activities that execute the sites strategic Transformation Plan resulting in bottom line company savings.
Train site leadership and other key personnel on Ryder Lean Guiding Principles and industry-standard Lean tools to align with the Supply Chain Solutions deployment strategy. Examples include: root cause analysis tools (5 Why’s, Fishbone Diagrams, A3, etc.), Standard Work development, Visual Management (status at a glance), and 5S.
Champion “Lean Day 1” activities for new sites within business unit as assigned. Responsibilities include ordering all Lean supplies, coordinating set-up of Lean boards, educating Operational Leadership on Lean tools, and guiding the site on the cadence of Lean activity (waste walks, Transformation Plan review, etc.).
Work with site leadership to conduct Lean assessments of critical site and business needs.
Work with site leadership to update and re-prioritize their Transformation Plan to maintain focus on the most critical site objectives.
Develop local site Lean Leaders capable of driving Lean in their areas. Coach and mentor others on Lean in an attempt to engrain the Lean culture throughout Ryder.
Bachelors degree required in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain or a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
Minimum of six years of related experience is required
MBA and/or Industrial Engineering Masters Degree preferred
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred, attainment is required within 12 months
American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS) Certification is preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in: MS Office MS Project and/or Transportation/Warehouse Management Systems (TMS and WMS) and Network analysis tools MS Visio Statistical and/or Transportation Analysis Tools (Minitab, SAS, Matlab, i2, Tmod, ILPS) Mapping analysis tools and/or Simulation, preferred
Collects data and performs statistical analysis Maps and documents processes Independently identifies process gaps; recommends and implements process improvement Applies company methodologies and tools to design distribution and/or transportation operations
Establishes and implements performance measures Conducts Inventory and/or Supply Chain analyses and recommends alternative strategies
Actively supports the sales process and creates high quality solutions and designs
Effectively interacts with customers, Sales, and Operations to create value propositions
Confers with the Engineering and Operations Managers to implement efficient and competitive solutions
Manages multiple projects of small and medium size Leads, coaches, and mentors other engineers
