Global Logistics Control Center - Outbound Specialist

This position is Tuesday through Saturday 8 am to 5 pm

Mandatory Weekend Schedule during EOQ

Job Summary:

This position reports to and is managed by a Shipping Manager, and is responsible for insuring all day to day activities within assigned section are successfully accomplished. The employee is responsible for adherence to all Ryder and work center safety and security policies. Current responsibilities include but are not limited to and include the below:

Work Performed:

  • Reporting - reports on system status from both physical and logical standpoints – i.e. –inventory status, whether complete / incomplete, where located and logical status- i.e. - marketing holds: OA, Letter of Credit, Export, etc. Interfaces directly with OPP&C especially in final month of each quarter to included Manufacturing Managers, Project Management and Operations Directors. Attend Production meetings to stay informed of manufacturing status with regard to revenue systems.

  • Carrier Contact – Responsible for contacting carriers when Systems and NSO’s are released for shipment and appropriate documentation issued. Communication of trucking requirements directly to van lines for a domestic shipment or freight forwarder for international shipments – i.e.- air ride, covered van, swing doors, etc. based on product dimensions / contents.

  • Storage Direction / Contact – Based on status and timeline for pick-up as determined after carrier is contacted, responsible for directing Systems and NSO’s to be sent to FGW or remain at crater. Also, central point of contact for pick-up information and any documentation necessary to ensure successful pick-up at offsite crating / storage facilities.

  • System and NSO Folder Documentation Management and Retention – Must maintain and update as required, all pertinent documentation for each System and NSO and ensure all quality signoffs are completed where applicable- Documentation included:

Security Endorsement form

Related e-mail correspondence

Export Documentation

Crater packing list

Shipping documents

Oracle pick slip

SRT Consolidated Packing list

Tote Status reports

Tote count sheets

Declaration of Conformity (if applicable)

When requesting pick up, must include Corporate Traffic, update Shipment Tracker and retain copy on Dock for 6 months.

  • Time Management – Responsible for managing all shipping related aspects for Systems and NSO’s. Required to be oncall on occasion and be available by phone regardless of time or shift to address any issues requiring attention.


  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Minimum of one year of related warehouse and/or powered industrial lift experience required

  • Ability to read, do basic mathematics, understand and respond to written and verbal instructions in English for the purposes of safety, work instructions, policies, etc.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and walk in high traffic areas

  • The ability to input data into various WMS computer systems

  • Work overtime as assigned


  • Read, interpret, and apply Warehouse Management System (WMS) order instructions

  • Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions adversely affect the customer

  • Recognize damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action when discovered

  • Pull orders accurately as assigned

  • Stage orders according to carrier location and verify: number of pallets picked as well as stage location

  • Prepare receiving, storage and shipping documentation retaining product accountability throughout the logistical process

  • Be aware of and follow location and work center Safety and Security policies and procedures

  • Performs housekeeping duties and other duties as assigned

  • May operate fork-lift equipment or other warehouse machinery
