Ryder System Tax Analyst I in ALPHARETTA, Georgia

Position Description:

The Tax Analyst I is primarily responsible for monitoring, validating, analyzing, and maintaining tax information. This may include performing/assisting with audits, serving as a technical expert and researching variances.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience

  • Minimum of two to four (2-4) years of experience in tax analysis and administration preferred

  • Experience working with AS400 and Walker systems preferred

  • Ability to analyze complex information, problem solve, work independently, communicate and write effectively, and apply basic accounting/financial principals

  • Knowledge of AS400, Walker, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Access)

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, maintain and manage informational databases

  • Research and interpret tax regulations; monitor changes, make recommendations, and enact changes to ensure compliance

  • Research and respond to inquiries regarding tax policies, rules, regulations and guidelines, in a timely manner

  • Report, analyze, summarize and distribute information to various parties/vendors

  • Reconcile variances within Ryder's tax systems

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reconcile sales tax variances in Ariba by matching the taxability of products being purchased in specific state locations with the tax billed by the vendor

  • Update the customer master of qualified exemptions, by state and product line, after thorough review and validation of certificates received from customers

  • Work directly with customers and vendors to provide timely response to inquiries and provide feedback regarding tax policies, rules, regulations and guidelines

  • Create and distribute resale exemption certificates to qualified vendors after reviewing and validating requests received from shop locations and directly from vendors

  • Monitor and maintain databases along with virtual and paper support documentation for customer and vendor exemptions

  • Provide resolutions through direct communication with customers and vendors

  • Work directly with the field to provide tax guidance for complicated sales tax issues
