Ryder System Supply Chain Technical Solution Architect in ALPHARETTA, Georgia

Position Description:

The Supply Chain Technical Solution Architect is responsible for evaluating customer and business requirements, leading the design, and making recommendations in the development of complex supply chain solutions involving warehousing, transportation, and integrated supply chain solutions. S/he leads the technical solution design efforts in support of business development and new customer implementations, and provides support for new product service offering design. This position functions independently with limited direction in a broad scope of policies and processes.


  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or information technology

  • PMP certification preferred

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in designing complex supply chain solutions

  • Extensive experience with leading the design and process improvement efforts involving complex supply chain technology solutions in a matrix organization

  • Extensive experience in technical solution architecting and deploying distributed, high volume, mission critical business applications

  • Extensive experience in translating business needs and requirements into solution design requirements

  • Extensive experience in evaluating existing processes and procedures to provide guidance and recommendations on process improvements

  • Experience in integration of various ERP (SAP, Oracle, home grown) solutions with different integration technologies: EDI (ANSI, EDIFACT), Web Services, AS2, etc.

  • Experience in deploying or working with different warehouse management systems such as Manhattan Associates WMOS and Accellos

  • Experience in deploying or working with transportation planning systems such as JDA, TMW Transportation Planning, etc.

  • Experience in a variety of industries to include high tech, healthcare, oil and gas, CPG, retail, industrial, automotive and aftermarket

  • Experience with new customer implementations

  • Experience in deploying or working with ERP solutions such as InforSyteLine, Oracle, SAP, especially in the use of product postponement or reverse logistics areas

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent project management

  • Excellent facilitating skills and able to drive consensus involving technical and non-technical resources at varied levels experience and management

  • Experience in utilizing Lean methodologies

  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow up practices

Business Development:

  • Provide leadership and guidance in the assessment and design of IT supply chain solutions to support business needs and requirements, utilizing Ryder’s supply chain technology portfolio

  • Recommend solution, system and processes to Senior Leadership; This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Identifying, determining and recommending the required technology

  2. Identifying, determining and recommending required external and internal systems integration requirements

  3. Presenting proposed technology solutions to Ryder senior level management and senior executive management for Fortune 500 companies,

  4. Ensuring compliance of technology solutions with Ryder’s IT Enterprise standards

Implementation/Solution Design:

  • Provide leadership and guidance in assessing the needs and requirements of the business to:
  1. Determine technical requirements based on business needs and requirements

  2. Lead technical solution architecture sessions to design each of the various technology solution applications including integration required to support the business

  3. Evaluate and determine the design and deployment of proactive solution monitoring

New Product Services:

  1. Providing technical guidance and recommendations on new solutions or service offerings that require a technology solution to be identified and/or developed

  2. Keeping updated on market trends and industry vertical supply chain business models to assist IT Vertical Directors and the business with identifying and developing new product service offerings

  3. Working with IT Vertical Directors to gather requirements and solution costing for new product service offerings

  4. Serving as liaison between the Business Relations Organization and PMO Organization to assist in the enterprise solution design and development of new product service offerings

  5. Performing other duties as assigned
