Position Description:

The National Development Manager expands Ryder's foot print in the Marketplace and shortens the sales cycle by turning over more highly qualified leads to the Director of Business Development (DBD) in the Dedicated Transportation Solutions (DTS) group. This position will be responsible for supporting DBD's by qualifying prospective customers based on a variety of lead sources.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business/marketing or equivalent experience

  • One (1) year or more successful sales experience

  • One (1) year or more prior Inside Sales experience preferred

  • One (1) year or more prior experience selling in a B2B environment preferred

  • Ability to:

  • Use technology and self-motivated to accurately research and engage customers to identify future opportunities

  • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors); able to communicate clearly with C-Level customer and with experience Ryder Sales Team

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate sales aptitude, assertive, persistent, good listener, self-motivated, excellent closing skills

  • Good mathematical ability

  • Excellent organizational skills and effective time and activity management skills

  • Maturity and self-confidence with the ability to work under pressure

  • Attention to detail and goal orientation; must be able to reach and exceed monthly/yearly quotas; able to prioritize work

  • Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty; aptitude for acquiring selling skills and product knowledge

  • Capablity to multi-task and highly organized, with excellent time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Excellent systems literacy knowledge - MS Office, Excel, Word, and Internet

  • Advance knowledge on how to utilize keyboard/PC to capture in a dynamic way, customer discovery

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a high level of call volume in order to educate and develop prospects regarding Ryder's value proposition and services. This occurs by probing prospect needs and identifying opportunities to match those needs with our corresponding services

  • Engages in lead nurturing and is the primary resource for researching/prospecting of new business leads via internet, marketing campaigns and other lead sources. Also monitors industry trends, competitive intelligence and market conditions

  • Conduct regularly scheduled meeting/phone calls with each DBD to discuss interaction with their specific prospects. Open dialog between

  • Copious note taking and documentation in customer relationship management system (e.g. SalesForce), articulating the specific type of interaction with the prospect

  • Interact with marketing department to update them regarding quality of leads/ what's working, what's not working

  • Performs other duties as assigned
